A comprehensive program tailored for managers and leaders seeking to develop strategies for successfully navigating 1-on-1 and group  communications, including in high-pressure or sensitive situations.

Participants will learn practical techniques and proven methods to better communicate both with individuals and with groups of people of varying size and composition. They will also learn techniques for transferring those acquired skills to others, promoting collaboration, trust, skills development, emotional intelligence and greater productivity within their teams.

Through interactive exercises and case studies, managers and leaders will develop essential communication skills that apply to multiple kinds of interactions: face-to-face, remote and by email, to name a few. These activities will enable them to foster a positive work environment and enhance employee satisfaction and retention.

Communicating across remote teams in a digital workspace has become an important consideration for all managers and leaders and this program will address the challenges and teach strategies for more effective communication. As part of this program we will provide best practices, many of these developed over the last few years, for managing effective communication in a virtual or hybrid workplace.

This program will enable professionals, managers and leaders to communicate better in challenging situations, both in private and public settings

and to avoid getting into a “defensive crouch”. A defensive crouch refers to a reactive communication posture that usually escalates tension while reducing understanding and problem-solving.

We will show participants how to short-circuit defensive, reactive communication impulses and to replace those with proven techniques for getting your point across and influencing others’ behaviours.

Participants will enhance their skills in active listening and empathy-building, understanding through practical, real-life examples how the words they use matter (and which words matter most!).

They will understand why and how emotional intelligence is essential for good communications and promoting harmony and engagement in the workplace. Lastly, they will learn about different models for providing employees constructive, but honest, feedback.

key takeaways from the program

Communicating for Impact

  • Strategic framing of messaging for maximising impact;
  • Choosing specific words and phrases that have been shown in studies to be impactful
  • Understand your audience(s) and develop “calls to action (CTAs)” that are realistic

Communicating for Connection

  • Empathy and listening
  • Strategically using  body language to communicate
  • Using the principle of “Ethos” to build and maintain trust
  • Building and maintaining long-term “communication relationships”, since these are the foundation across which our message must always travel

Communicating for Change

  • Adopt a “Yes, and…” (versus a hard “No”) mindset when listening to others’ ideas
  • Using the ancient principle of “Pathos” to persuade listeners
  • How to identify, and neutralise, counter-arguments

Participants can expect to take away a deep understanding of communication theories and principles so that they understand WHY the communication techniques we will teach them work.
